Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning

What should you do when you have invested millions and the first part didn’t make enough money? Make viewers forget that two films constitute one whole. That’s what Paramount Pictures did with “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One.” Will this work?

Not “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One”, but “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”

The show “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One” will appear in America on January 25 on the Paramount+ platform. However, it will have a slightly changed title there. It can be found as “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning“. The change may not seem important at first, but it is crucial. The information that this is the first part disappears.

The next part, although a direct continuation of the story, will have a different title. This is not known exactly. The studio is currently calling it simply “Mission: Impossible 8”.

Why is Paramount changing the titles of the seventh and eighth “M:I” films?

The change is made, due to the disastrous (for the series) box office result of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”. The spectacle with Tom Cruise turned out to be Barbenheimer’s greatest sacrifice. With a budget of almost PLN 300 million, it grossed only USD 567 million worldwide.

This result is worse than the achievements of the last three parts. It also means that Paramount lost at least $100 million on it.

The studio intends to do everything to stop the downward trend in the bud. It was long ago decided that “Mission: Impossible 8″ would not hit theaters this year. Its premiere, scheduled for the end of June, has been postponed by a year to the second half of May 2025.

Shooting for the film is still ongoing. The team is currently in Australia.
